From October 23rd you will be able to claim £7500 instead of the £5000 if you are eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
It is exciting news for Devon home and small business owners. Grants have been upped for the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme! To classify as eligible, Devon homeowners must meet the thermal insulation requirements. This must be done by replacing existing reliance on fossil fuels or electric heating, with a more renewable heating solution.
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
Open to domestic and small non-domestic properties, the UK’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme awards money towards those who have updated their heating systems to a more carbon-conscious, efficient solution on or after 1 April 2022. The overarching goal of the incentive is to “support the decarbonisation of heat in buildings.”
What do the new grant changes mean for Devon homeowners?
From 23 October 2023, extra government funding has been made available to claim back on the costs and installation of air source and ground source heat pumps in homes and small non-domestic properties across the UK. Installers can apply on behalf of their customers for an extra £2,500 towards the costs.
The upped grant is available for a limited time only. Between 2022 and 2025, £450 million of funding is available as a part of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
How does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme Work?
After a property has upgraded its heating system, the installer of the solution will apply for the grant on the owner’s behalf. The money received in grant will then be reimbursed from the total price paid for the installation.
